Local Produce v International Grub

"A mushroom farm that has been in operation for 50 years in Surrey is closing because of rising costs and competition from abroad.

About 80 people will lose their jobs at Shackleford Mushrooms near Godalming, owner Peter Davies said.

He said the UK mushroom industry was declining, and the South East now only had one other mushroom farm left. "

Are you great supporters of local producers or, as long as the food is fresh and fairly reasonable, are you not bothered where your dinner comes from? It would be really interesting to hear your views on this, as it is obviously quite a contentious issue that is bound to increasingly fall into the public spotlight...

Definitely local produce, I know it costs more but I like the idea of it being born a little closer to where I was. I turned out alright! I'm looking forward to Kingston Food Festival later this month, it's always a lot of fun.

I had my first try of Norbury Blue the other day. Way down an absolute treat. I'll probably try and pop over to Farnham festival I think. Did you enjoy Kingston?

I'm really looking forward to Christmas coming. I know it's not exactly local but the German Christmas Market is always so much fun!
